Dormaahene appeals for nursing training facility

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Oct. 11, GNA - Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Dormaahene, has appealed for the establishment of a nursing training school to be attached to the Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa Ahenkro.

He said the school would help provide human resource requirements of the hospital and Senior Secondary School graduates who had made the grades for such training.

The Omanhene made the appeal at a meeting with the Right Reverend Yaw Frimpong Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, who was in Dormaa-Ahenkro to participate in the church's centenary celebrations. Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu said the absence of a professional training institute in the district had made it difficult for the teeming youth to remain in the district to contribute to its growth. He said he heard of reports indicating that admission into such professional institutes had become difficult due to clamour and what has become "whom-you-know" policy.

"If the school is sited in the district, students, especially girls will be encouraged to go to school, thereby minimising the drop-out rate amongst them", Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu added. The Moderator pledged to present the Dormaahene's request to the Presbyterian Health Services.
