Divisional council provides street lights for Toase

Toase (Ash), Jan 28, GNA - The Toase Divisional Council in the Atwima district has provided the township with streetlights costing about six million cedis.

In addition, the divisional council has rehabilitated the road from Gyankobaa Junction to the main Kumasi-Bibiani trunk road at the cost of five million cedis.

Speaking at a reception organised by the council for the people of Toase in appreciation of their communal spirit and co-operation, Nana Asiamah Afrifa Poku II, Toasehene, assured them of the council's preparedness to support the development of the town.

He said the divisional council would support the Toase Education Fund to provide assistance to brilliant but needy students and also help in the rehabilitation of schools in the division.

Nana Afrifa Poku asked those who had applied for assistance from the education fund to exercise patience since they would all be catered for.

He announced that the council would bear the cost of the installation of computers donated to the Catholic primary school by the Reverend Father Antwi Boasiako, a Catholic priest, which cost 10 million cedis.

The Toasehene commended his people for their communal spirit, especially the women and the peace prevailing in the division and also praised his elders, particularly Nana Ofori Acheampong, the Ankobeahene for their support and co-operation.

Nana Adwoa Kyeiwaa II, Queen Mother of Toase, pledged to enforce the observance of puberty rites for the young girls in the area so as to avoid early pregnancies.

She advised parents to encourage the education of their daughters and asked the youth to abstain from early and casual sex to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease.
