District Assembly and NGO provide library for Dzodze

The Ketu District Assembly has constructed a 400-million-cedis community library in Dzodze in the District while Africa Library Project (BALP), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has provided books worth 100 million cedis.

The District Assembly spent 300 million cedis on the project while BALP provided over 7,200 books on various subjects.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Deputy Volta Regional Minister who inaugurated the project said facilities like schools and library equipped with books for quality education remained the government's priority.

He said the government, over the past two years, had built 250 classroom blocks in the Volta Region and would build another 48 school blocks and libraries this year.

Mr Dzamesi said the government would attach libraries to schools in the country and thanked BALP for the donation.

Mr Linus Koffie, Ketu District Chief Executive (DCE), in a speech read on his behalf appealed to the Library Committee of the School to make good use of the facility.

Mr and Mrs Bromley, Proprietors of BALP, said the books were donations from school children and some individuals in the United States (US).

The proprietors called for quarterly reports on the patronage of the library and promised to provide computers to improve its services.
