District Assemblies must report non-performing contractors

Gwollu, (U/W) Nov. 3, GNA - A Member of the Council of State, Naa Seidu Braimah, has appealed to Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) to report non-performing contractors of the government to the appropriate authorities.

Naa Braimah, who is also the chief of Guli, in the Wala Traditional Area, said the government would not condone with lazy contractors whose actions could derail the President's vision of building a "Better Ghana".

Naa Braimah said this when he accompanied Mr. Caezar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, and Mr. Robert Baka Wavei, Sissala West District Chief Executive, (DCE) to inspect building projects that were being executed for the Gwollu Senior High School (SHS) at Gwollu on Wednesday.

The projects which were awarded eighteen months ago are still at the foundation level.

Some of the contractors were not at the building site when the team arrived for inspection.

The Member of Council of State, therefore, suggested that contractors without the requisite capacity should stop aiming for contacts beyond their abilities.

Mr Kale urged the contractors to double their efforts to ensure that the projects are ready by September 2011 to enable the SHS to commence.

Mr. Kale, therefore, warned that any contractor who fails to deliver would have his contract terminated and re-awarded.
