Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Justice Adjei, has appealed to Muslim parents to discourage the youth from intolerance and lawlessness.

They should be assisted to reject overtures by anybody out there to undermine the peace of the society, he added.

He was addressing hundreds of Muslims to celebrate the Eid-al-Fitr festival at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The festival is celebrated globally to mark the end of the Ramadan – the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Mr. Adjei expressed discomfort with the growing use of foul and intemperate language by the political parties and their supporters and said the situation was unhelpful to the unity and stability of the nation.

He therefore asked all to be mindful of their pronouncements and do away with anything likely to create confusion and reverse the progress made.

He said every Ghanaian must have a vital role to play to make this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections, peaceful.

He urged the leadership of political parties to demand that their followers conducted themselves responsibly.

Mr. Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East, advised supporters of his party - the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to respect their political opponents and avoid anything tasteless.
