Mensdkrom (GA), Dec. 29, - Mr Ben Brown, Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has observed that man-made and natural disasters had been a major setback to the development of the Ga District.

He said statistics gathered in the district during 2003 showed a number of man-made and natural disasters like domestic fires, bushfires, conflicts and flooding and therefore call on the people to mitigate its occurrence.

Mr Brown made the observation when he addressed a durbar at Mendskrom to bring to the fore problems hindering sustainable development in the Ga District.

Mr Brown said disasters prevention is a herculean task and therefore, called on the people to assist NADMO to create awareness among the populace on the causes and effects to help achieve sustainable development.
