DPP to embark on serious campaign in Upper West Region

Alhaji Iddrisu Nasong, Upper West Regional Chairman of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) has advised its members in to embark on a serious house-to-house campaign rather than relying so much on rallies that do not portray the true support of parties.

"Do not be discouraged by the performance of our party in recent bye-elections, but look forward to capturing the Sissala seat which has been dominated by the NDC and the PNC for the past years."

Alhaji Nasong urged members not to regard political campaigns as merry-making events but to put up viable, marketable and a pragmatic young lady to contest the Sissala constituency since women were more than men in the constituency.

Alhaji Nasong, who was addressing the Sissala constituency delegates congress of the party said serious measures were being taken to unearth the potentials of the party in the region.

The newly elected members were; Mr Farrouk Musah, Chairman, Issah Batong, Vice Chairman, Abudulai Sualihu Secretary and Mubarik Mahmud Assistant Secretary.

Mr Haruna Majid was elected as Organiser of the party, Safia Salia, Treasurer, Marian Saain Women Organiser, Margaret Kanton and Baba Dawda, Youth Organisers and Ibrahim Gamua as Education Secretary.

Mallam Aziz Mahama, Press Secretary of the party said no party could win in the 2004 general elections in the first round.
