DCE urges active community involvement in education

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asante-Akim South, Mr. De-graft Fokuo, has urged communities to actively get involved in the provision of education infrastructure.

He said community members should complement the government’s efforts at creating the right environment for effective teaching and learning because they had vital contribution to make towards the development of education.

Mr Fokuo said this when he inspected on-going projects at Dansabonso and Abakabon – a classroom block and a public toilet.

These are being financed by the district assembly from its share of the Assemblies’ Common Fund.

Mr. Fokuo asked the people not to sit on the sidelines and expect the government to provide for their every single need.

He challenged them to take the initiative to address some of their felt needs.

That, he said, was important because the limited national resources would have to be equitably distributed.

The DCE gave the assurance that the assembly would give strong support to those who took steps to transform their living conditions.

He also encouraged teachers in the area to work with passion to improve the academic performance of school children.

The people hailed the assembly for the projects and appealed for the construction of a teachers’ bungalow to provide decent accommodation for those posted there.
