DCE urged Pra River community to let peace prevail

Pra River (Ash), July 5, GNA - Dr Lord Justice Gyamfi-Fenteng, the Asante-Akim South District Chief Executive, has called on residents of Pra River, a farming community near Nkawkaw, to let peace prevail after weeks of agitation.

The call followed the district assembly's inability to inaugurate new unit committee members due to the insistence of the residents that the outgoing committee should render accounts of their stewardship before the inauguration. At a durbar of chiefs and people of the community on Tuesday to find a lasting solution to the impasse, the DCE appealed to both parties to set aside their grievances to pave way for the inauguration of the committee.

Dr Gyamfi-Fenteng said the successful inauguration of the new committee would create a better platform for the old committee to render accounts, failure of which the law would take its course. He told unit committee members to guard against handling criminal cases and instead forward them to the appropriate quarters. Nana Sarpong Badu, Ankobeahene of Pra River, commended the DCE for the immense role he played in resolving the issue and called on the people to respect the agreement reached in the interest of the community.
