DCE launches supply of free exercise books

Twifo Praso (C/R), May 19, GNA - Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, District ch= ief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira, warned on Tuesday that th= e free exercise books supplied by government to Basic Schools in the countr= y are not meant for sale. Mr Andoh who gave the warning during the launch of the programme in the District at Twifo Praso, said any teacher, pupil or other member of the public caught selling the books would be made to face the full rigours of=

the law. A total of 265,158 exercise books, including graph books and technic= al drawing books, were allocated to the District. The DCE praised the government for fulfilling one of the major campa= ign promises of the National Democratic Congress to supply free text books to=

public schools. Mr Andoh said the government was committed to education, which explained why it increased the Capitation Grant as soon as it assumed off= ice and went further to fulfil another campaign promise to supply free school=

uniforms.
