DCE calls for the creation of land banks

Lambussie (UW), June 27, GNA - Mr. Clement Benin, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Lambussie-Karni has appealed to chiefs and land owners to create land banks in their respect areas to ensure the smooth development of the district. He said if land banks were created in their respective communities, it would avoid situations whereby development projects earmarked for communities could not be subjected to litigation or unavailability of land.

Mr. Benin told the GNA in an interview after he visited and interacted with chiefs and the people as part of his tour of the district to introduce himself to them and to explain government development agenda.

The areas he visited are Kanguol, Piina, Sentu, Samoa, Koro, Bulli, Billaw and Banwon where he assured the people of the NDC's government's preparedness to share the national cake equitably. He said land was an important ingredient in development and there was therefore the need for custodians to stop giving out land indiscriminately and double sale to ensure that there was land for development.

He advised chiefs in the area to engage the services of surveyors and personnel of the Town and Country Planning in the preparation of layouts to ensure sanity in land acquisition. Mr. Benin expressed gratitude for the relative peace in the district and called for continuous coexistence with one another to ensure lasting peace.

He assured them of an open and transparent administration and urged them to always honour their tax obligations for the district's development. 27 June 09
