Court refuses Nkawie-Panin chief bail

Nkawie (Ash), Aug. 29, GNA- The Atwima district court on Friday refused Nana Kusi Amankwaa Marfo, chief of Nkawie-Panin, bail when he made his second appearance on a charge of manslaughter. The court, presided over by Mr Kwaku Dampare, turned counsel's plea for bail for his client, and said the court would decide whether to grant him bail on Monday, September 1.

Nana Amankwaa Marfo is standing trial for beating Opanin Kwadwo Manu, 70, leading to his death.

The deceased reportedly lived in the same house with Nana Marfo at Nkawie-Panin during which the accused, in July this year, gave him three months to quit the house.

Though the three months had not elapsed, Nana Marfo on August 23, this year, reportedly beat the deceased who was later rescued by some good Samaritans. He was rushed to the hospital after a complaint was lodged with the police, but he died the next morning.
