Council of State member calls for end to tribal politics

Foase (Ash), Nov 12, GNA- Mr Benjamin Asonaba-Dapaah, a member of the Council of State, has called for an end to tribal politics in the country.

He said the success of the nation's democracy, unity and development would greatly depend on all Ghanaians seeing themselves as one people with a common destiny and aspiration.

Mr Asonaba-Dapaah was addressing a durbar held in his honour by the chiefs and people of Foase and surrounding communities in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District on Tuesday when he visited the area to interact with them.

He called on the chiefs to continue to support the government and the district assembly to enhance development of the communities. The Council of State member advised the people to pay their development levies to enable the government and the district assembly to raise enough revenue to provide them with their basic amenities. Mr Asonaba-Dapaah, who had earlier met the assembly members in the Atwima-Kwanwoma constituency, called on them to remain united and support the District Chief Executive to develop the area.

Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Chief Executive (DCE), asked the people to have confidence in the government.

He said the district has started its health insurance scheme and stressed the need for the people to embrace it.

The DCE, however, asked them to take advantage of the various interventions in the district to improve on their lot.

Nana Kwaku Tuffour, chief of Foase, called on the government to ensure the early completion of the rehabilitation of the Kwadaso-Nweneso road and other road networks in the area. 12 Nov 03
