Conflict resolution workshop held at New Edubiase

New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 19, GNA - Mr Benjamin Anhwere, Adansi South District Chief Executive, has counselled contestants of the impending district level elections and their supporters to ensure an election devoid of acrimony.

There should be more civility and decorum in their campaign for votes, to prevent unnecessary tension.

Mr Anhwere, who was addressing a day's workshop on conflict resolution at New Edubiase, said there was the need for more political tolerance.

It was organized by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE).

The participants included representatives of the political parties, traditional and religious leaders, assembly members and other opinion leaders.

It aimed at helping to build their capacity to effectively tackle political and other disputes in the area.

Mr Anhwere noted that no meaningful progress could take place in an atmosphere of chaos and urged all to work towards the sustenance of the relative peace in the district.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Benson, the District Police Commander, promised that adequate security measures would be put in place to make the district level elections incident-free.

Mr William Klutse, the NCCE District Director, underlined the need to use the appropriate channels for peaceful settlement of conflicts.
