Company donates hostel accommodation Bibiani District Hospital

Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - A four-room hostel accommodation valued at 300 million cedis has been built at the premises of the Bibiani District Government Hospital to serve as a temporary accommodation for relations, who visit patients from afar.

The hostel would help solve the problem of accommodation for relatives of the sick from afar, who were compelled sleep under trees. Dr Kwaku Afriyie, Minister of Health, announced this in Accra on Wednesday when he received 40 pieces of mattresses and a television set from PC Enterprise Limited, a local agent for Abbott Diagnostic of Germany.

The 12 million cedis worth of items meant for the hostel, built and furnished by PC Enterprise Limited, was in response to an appeal made by the Health Minister.

Patients from Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and eastern regions patronise the hospital, which is situated at the Northern part of the Western Region.

The hostel would also cater for pregnant women from afar who would be in their last days of delivery since travelling over long distances at that stage could be dangerous, Dr Afriyie said. Dr Afriyie commended the company for the prompt response to the appeal and said this would help reduce the rate of maternal mortality in the District.

Mr Carlis Paitto, Managing Director of the Company, and Mr Tom Wister, Senior Programmes Manager, Abbott Laboratories of US, presented the items. 10 Sept. 03
