Community undertakes market extension work

Nsawam, May 6, GNA - Mr. Magnus Opare Asamoah, Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation, on Monday cut the sod for the construction of extensional structure at the existing Nsawam market. The project estimated at GH¢ 50.107 would take three months to complete. It comprised 40 stalls for mainly foodstuff and durable goods sellers and service providers. Briefing the GNA, Mr. Asamoah also the Member of Parliament for Aburi/Nsawam constituency in the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly said the project amount was part of his common fund for the development of the area. He said the meat shop would also be rehabilitated after the completion of the extension project.

Mr. Asamoah said so far, he has spent most of his common funds to support the rehabilitation of about 181 roads to be tarred in the area to ease the evacuation of foods items to the buying centres. On education, the MP said over 13 communities had also benefited from a day care centre and about 150 needy but brilliant students were given scholarships at both senior high secondary school and the university levels to enable them to be well-placed in society. Mr. Andrew Yaw Nyarko Adu, Municipal Chief Executive, said the Municipal District Assembly said apart from the 40 stalls being financed by the MP, an amount of about GH¢ 68.185.20 would be used to undertake further extension works on the market. Nana Bow Ababio, Chief of Bowkrom and Acting Chief of Nsawam, who chaired the function commended the NPP government for the numerous projects completed in the country.
