Community calls for assistance to establish library

Likpe-Bakua, Feb. 4, GNA - Mr Michael Dziwornu Sronipah, Chairman of the Likpe-Bakua Community Library has appealed to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), the Hohoe District Assembly and philanthropists to help the community to re-construct and re-equip the library, which was destroyed by a rainstorm last year.

He said the library, which serves the six public and private schools in the area had its roof ripped off during a severe rainstorm. The Chairman was speaking to newsmen after taking them round the library on Tuesday.

Mr Sronipah said a large quantity of books, electrical gadgets and furniture were destroyed, adding that the cost of the items destroyed has been put at 80 million cedis.

He, therefore, called for public support to rehabilitate the library. Mr Sronipah expressed his gratitude to the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), an NGO for the material support and hope others would emulate it.
