Clinic to be opened at Mankessim Market

Saltpond (C/R), Oct. 13, GNA - The Mfantseman District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in collaboration with the District Assembly is to establish a clinic at the Mankessim Market.

The District Assembly has provided accommodation while the District Directorate of Health Service provides personnel and drugs.

Dr Simpson Anim Boateng, District Director of the GHS told the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond that the decision to establish the clinic, which would be commissioned before the end of October this year was to bring quality health service to the traders at their work place.

He said the clinic would lay emphasis on reproductive and child health care.

Mr Francis Zuradam Saareson, District Disease Control Officer, said the clinic would also serve as the nerve centre for educating the traders on HIV/AIDS and environmental and personal hygiene. We would collaborate with the environmental health officers to educate the traders on the need to keep the market and its surrounding tidy at all times.

Miss Agnes Baffoe, Senior Staff Midwife, who was being prepared to man the clinic expressed gratitude to Dr Boateng for taking a wise decision.

She said the clinic would save the traders from the problems they encounter before they obtain health service. 13 Oct. 03
