Chiraa Methodist Primary school needs urgent renovation

The Chiraa Methodist Primary School in the Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo Region needs urgent renovation works, Mr. Stephen Owusu Asamoah, the Headteacher of the School appealed on Monday.

He described the six-unit classroom block as a death-trap to the 240 pupils in the school, saying, any strong wind and rainstorm could demolish it.

Mr. Asamoah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Chiraa that since the establishment of the school in 1942, the building had never been renovated.

He said the school had no ICT centre and sanitary facilities.

He mentioned inadequate tables and chairs for teachers and few books at the library as other challenges.

Mr Asamoah noted that the only borehole, which supplied the pupils with water, needed mechanization and therefore appealed to Non-Governmental Organisations, philanthropists and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the school.
