Child Protection and Parental Responsibilities club launched at Gyingyinadze

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, has urged parents in the area to invest in the education of their children since it is the only legacy they can leave to them.

Nii Ephraim made the call at the launching of Child Protection and Parental Responsibilities Club at Effutu Gyingyinadze.

The programme was organized by the Effutu Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

It was aimed at sensitizing the children to concentrate on their books, and for parents to know their responsibilities regarding the proper grooming of their children.

The MCE said government under the leadership of President John Evans Atta Mills was channeling more resources into education to enable the nation to produce qualified manpower, to contribute towards the development of the country.

Nii Ephraim advised parents especially the men who deliberately refused to cater for their children to change their attitude.

He advised the teachers to constantly revise their books to enable them to give of their best during teaching and urged them to regard the children as their own.

The MCE advised the school children to desist from drug abuse, premarital sex, indecent dressing and disrespect to the elderly, and to concentrate on their books to achieve success in live.

Mr Robert Collins Annan, Effutu NCCE Director, said the country will only have good human resource if the children were well educated.

Madam Eva Odomey, a representative of the Municipal Directorate of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), urged parents to support their children in all their endeavors since it was a crime to refuse to cater for a child.

Madam Edwina Walker, Headmistress of the school commended the organizers of the programme and expressed the need for parents to use their limited resources to educate their children rather than spend it on expensive funerals and litigation.

Mr Peter Quaye, Asst Director of Education at the Effutu Municipal Education Directorate, who chaired the programme, said the introduction of the programme in the municipality will help create awareness for parents who neglected their responsibilities.

He called for the formation of clubs in all the communities and schools in the municipality and promised that, the Education Service directorate will support the clubs to achieve their aims and objectives.**
