Chiefs says doctrinal differences should not divide churches

Dzodze, May 17, GNA - Togbe Adzofia IV, Paramount Chief of the Dzodze Traditional, area has appealed to Christian sects to avoid making laughing stocks of Christianity over doctrinal differences.

Togbe Adzofia was speaking at the Akatsi branch of the Global Evangelical Church at Dzodze on the theme, 93working together as a presbytery".

He said Christians must get serious with tackling waywardness and remoulding society for peace rather than discouraging potential followers through negative behaviour.

Togbe Adzofia commended the EP Church for sending representatives to the conference, saying it meant an improvement in the relationship between the two and expressed the hope that there would be more cooperation between the two churches.

The Rev Emmanuel Barigah, Chairman of the Conference, said despite the progress of churches, there remained the daunting challenge of transforming the teeming followers to the nature of Jesus Christ.

He said the building of discipleship was the most important in the duties of the Church.

Rev Barigah appealed to members to focus on unity to build the Kingdom of God, than individual or group aspirations.

He commended the government for the infrastructure build up in education, roads and rural electrification and appealed to the youth to take advantage of the many opportunities in agriculture and go into farming.

Rev Emmanuel Otieku, EP Church Southern Volta Synod Vice-Chairman, appealed to the two churches to put the past behind them and work like Christians, adding 93we need to cooperate to outsmart the devil".
