Chief pleads for peace for Ghana's accelerated growth

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), March 8, GNA - Nana Barima Boabasa Opong Yaw Ababio, Gyasehene of Dormaa traditional area has appealed to Ghanaians to let peace and tranquillity to prevail in their communities for the country's accelerated growth.

He emphasised that the country could only reap the full benefit of her political independent if Ghanaians lived and worked as one people with a common destiny to achieve national prosperity. The Gyasehene was speaking at a parade formed by 33 contingents of 25 first and second cycle educational institutions and eight identified groups at the celebration of Ghana's 48th Independence Anniversary at Dormaa Ahenkro.

Nana Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, read the President's anniversary speech and jointly took the salute with Mr Augustine Ampabeng Kyeremeh, District Director of Education and Police Chief Inspector Takyie.

Highlights of the occasion included a match past, a sack race competition among the schools and a tug of war between female teachers and members of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Associations.
