Chief donates land for fish farming

Tarkwa (W/R), Sept. 16, GNA - Nana Enimil Kumah IV, Bosomtoahene of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, has released a sixty-acre land to the Aboso Fish Farmers Group for a fish-farming project.

The Chief, who announced this at a two-day capacity building workshop for 55 members of the Fish Farmers Group at Tarkwa at the weekend, said he was releasing the land in response to an appeal by the group.

Nana Kumah, who is a patron of the Wassa Fiase Fish Farmers Association (WWFFA), also donated 20 million cedis towards the renovation of the Association's offices.

He pledged to release more land to people interested in fish farming.

Mr Peter Kingsley Ashun, Chairman of the WWFFA, thanked Nana Kumah for his gesture and said the land would be shared among 30 members of the Group.

The workshop, which was under the theme: "Strengthening the Organisational Capacity of Fish Farmers Groups," was organised by the Wassa West District Assembly, the Fisheries Department and the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
