Chief appeals to Govt for assistance

Breman Bedum (C/R), Nov. 22, GNA - Nana Kweku Essoun II, Odikro of Breman Bedum in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District last weekend appealed to the Government for assistance to complete a mechanised pipe project estimated at about 143 million cedis.

He said the community had already spent 70 million cedis from levies imposed on its citizens towards the project. Every man paid 13,000 cedis and every woman 12,000 cedis.

Nana Essoun made the appeal at a durbar of the chiefs and people of Breman Bedum to climax their weeklong celebration of Odwira festival. Speaking to the Ghana News agency (GNA), Nana Essoun said the annual festival was to take stock of programmes and activities in the past and plan ahead for projects to reduce poverty and promote wealth creation to improve the living standards of the people. He said some projects that should be undertaken were rehabilitation of the Breman Asikuma-Bedum-Bisease road and the Bedum-Assin Mansu road to facilitate movement of goods and services in the area as well as linking the town to the national electricity grid.

Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson, District Chief Executive for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa called for unity among the people for accelerated development of the district.

He appealed to the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for improved health care delivery. Mr Adjei Domson advised them to keep their environment clean.
