Chief appeals for fencing of School

New Abirem, Oct. 01, GNA - Nana Obrenpong Akwasi Kyeretwie, Chief o= f Abirem,

has appealed to the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, fo= r help to

fence the New Abirem Senior High School to prevent students from escaping t= o town. He said due to the location of the school, some students more often run away from

school without obtaining permission. Nana Kyeretwie made the appeal when Dr Apea-Kubi paid a courtesy cal= l on him as

part of his working visit to the Birim North District. He also appealed to the minister to help bring more doctors to the hospital, since the

facility had only one doctor. Nana Kyeretwie noted that because of the fast growth rate of the area= , one doctor was

not enough to serve the whole area. The Regional Minister on his part assured that the entire request would be put into

consideration and called for unity from the people to help develop the area= ..

He said the Government through the Better Ghana Agenda was committed in its

pledge the development of rural communities to make life more meaningful to them. Dr Apea-Kubi as part of the visit also met heads of departments in th= e District and

advised them to be punctual at all times. The Minister also met with the management of Newmont and appealed to them to

introduce Information, Communication Technology (ICT) to the area by providing the

local schools with Internet facility.
