Central regional minister and regional executives meet the press.

The central regional minister, Mr. AquianasTawiah Quansah and the regional Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress NDC have met the press in the region for interactions.
The event which took place at the regional coordinating council was attended by talk show hosts and their producers in the region, regional correspondents and reporters as well as some MMDCEs under the chairmanship of Mr. Tawiah Quansah.
The purpose of the meeting according to Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Dawood, Regional Communications Officer of the NDC was to thank the president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for a number of developmental projects his government has done for the people of the central region.
Mr. Daawood also said the meeting was to serve as a platform for the MMDCEs to brief the media on the number of infrastructural projects in their various assemblies as well as to establish harmonious working relationship between the new executives of the party, the MMDCEs and the media for the purposes of free flow of information dissemination and insemination.
The chairman of the occasion, Honourable Tawiah Quansah said his doors are always opened to the media to walk into his office and seek for any information they may want because he understands the work of the press and therefore used the occasion to appeal to the media practitioners in the region to develop strong rapport with the R.C.C and himself for the total development and transformation of the region.
Touching on the current power crises popularly referred to as ‘Dum Sor’ in local parlance, the Minister who is also the Member of Parliament of Mfantseman constituency said, “the government is very much concerned about what this situation has brought because we all feel the impact and as a result, government has never relented on its effort to finding a lasting solution it”
He added that Ghanaians will soon have a new chorus to sing saying “because President Mahama is a visionary and thinks about the future, he is not only interested in managing this situation today but he wants to solve it for tomorrow and the next generation. If the good plans we have put in place should work, the situation of “Dum Sor” would be a thing of the past”.
The central regional chairman of the NDC, Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs for his part thanked his communication officer, Mr. Daawood for his vision and role in organizing the event. He said since the inception of the NDC as a political party, many see it as unfriendly to the media.
This situation Mr. Allotey said contributed to the defeat of the party in 2000 because though the party had some good plans for the people of Ghana, the media did not help to propagate their messages as a result of the perception the party disliked the media.
He continued that the new regional executives of which he is the chairman would chart a new path in the history of the party by making sure that the party works hand in hand with the media to enable the party tell a good story to Ghanaians and also to help propagates its message to the good people of Ghana to enhance their chances come 2016. “We are resolute to change the situation in the region and we will do whatever we can to transcend it across the country” Chairman Allotey Jacobs stressed.
Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Daawood mentioned the Cape Coast Sports Stadium which is about 80% complete, the construction of the Edina Benya Bridge, a fish processing plant both in Elmina, the Kotokoraba Market and the revamping the Komenda Sugar factory as some the ongoing projects the government is undertaking in the region.
