CWG Ghana awards best graduating computer science student

Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Ghana Limited on Tuesday presented an award to Ms Lydia Dugbakuor Akuaku, for being the best graduating student of the Computer Science Department, University of Ghana, Legon, for the 2013/2014 academic year.

Ms. Akuaku, who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.51, beat over 50 other students to win the coveted award.

For her prize, Ms Akuaku picked up a Dell laptop computer.

Mrs. Harriet Yartey, the Country Manager of CWG Ghana, said the choice to support Information Technology education annually, was steeped in the company’s belief in rewarding hard work.

She said it was also to endorse the intellectual development and upheld qualitative education across the locations, where the company operates in Africa.

This initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme to promote excellence in academic pursuit and support technologically driven society.

“We nurture excellence within our system and we are very particular about doing whatever we do to the best standard of excellence, our premium on quality workforce explains our emphasis on quality education,” She said.

Mrs. Yartey said education ultimately offered young people the best opportunity in life to realize their dreams and become leaders of tomorrow.

Ms. Akuaku expressed gratitude to the company and other institutions, which supported her to achieve the feat.

“They have made me feel that my efforts have paid off and I believe this will motivate me to excel and do my utmost best in everything I do,” she added.
