CSOs sign 20,000 Euro contract with CDD-Ghana

Four Civil Society Organisations group (CSO’s) have signed a one year contract with the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD GHANA) which aimed at evaluating and monitoring the activities in district assembly level.

The project wealth 20,000 Euro’s is a support CDD Ghana received from the government of France to ascertain the course over the said period.

The funding has been divided into four categories; the first release of the money to start up the project is 5.000 whiles the rest continued.

The project is entitled: strengthening ties between government, civil society and citizen’s.

At a stakeholders focus discussions held here in Accra, Project Coordinator CDD Ghana Nana Kwabena Aborampah Mensah said the findings would be compiled into a working document to guide the activities of the (CSO’s).

Stakeholder at the end of the focus discussion agreed that citizen through the survey of CSO’s must hold political parties accountable to their manifesto promises during and after elections.

Some of the issue raised in the discussion on the project to be embarked on has to do with budgetary, social accountability of district assembly, capacity building, resource management, information gathering and dissemination of information to the citizenry Nana kwabena therefore called on media persons to involve and participate in this project come next year so that they can use their platforms to make a positive impact to the citizenry.

The CSO’s selected include Friends of the Nation’s ( FoN), Center for Human Rights and Advanced Legal Research (CHRALER), and the Center for Local Government Advocacy (CLGA) and Anghito Foundation (AFESS).
