CEANA provides classroom block for Tanyigbe-Anyigbe

The Council of Ewe Association of North America (CEANA), has constructed a three-unit classroom block with office and store for the Tanyigbe-Anyigbe Municipal Assembly Basic School.

The school block which cost GH¢100,000.00 replaces a dilapidated one constructed more than five decades ago, and which had become a death trap.

The new classroom block is expected to stop the reported withdrawal of children from the school and help improve enrolment.

Mr Francis Ganyaglo Deputy Volta Regional Minister commended CEANA for the support, and urged the community to support government in the provision of quality education.

He said the “beautiful building” would not guarantee good results, unless the teachers, pupils and parents worked hard to improve on the academic performance in the area.

Reverend Father Anthony Azah, CEANA Project Co-ordinator lamented about the slow pace in executing the project, because the community was unwilling to provide communal labour.

Togbe Kwame Akoto the Fifth, Divisional Chief of Tanyigbe-Anyigbe, who initiated the project, said funds were used judiciously, and gave the assurance that it would take a longer period for any major rehabilitation to be done on it because of the quality of materials used.

Mr Kofi Kludjeson, entrepreneur, who chaired the function, promised to put up an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre for the school.

Mr Ezekiel Owusu Afriyie, President of Noble Dream Investment, promised to give GH¢5,000.00 to the school, for the procurement of furniture for the classrooms.
