C/R Reform Party chairman to contest Agona West seat

Mr Ishmael Kofi Turkson, Central Regional Chairman of National Reform Party, has declared his intention to contest the Agona West seat in the 2004 Parliamentary Election.

He said his decision to contest was based on the pledge of the chiefs and the youth in the constituency to throw their weight behind him to enable him to win the seat.

Speaking at the news conference at Agona Swedru, Mr Turkson said the future of the youth in the area was in jeopardy due to mass unemployment.

Mr Turkson, a lawyer based at Agona Swedru, said he would be able to work efficiently towards the development of the area if elected Member of Parliament because he had gained a lot of experience when he served as an assemblyman for Dwenho Electoral Area from 1993 to 1997.
