Bernard Academy observes Second Speech and Prize-Giving Day

Madam Christiana Azure Ayinzoya, Girls Education Officer of the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), has advised parents to send their children to school, since education was a master key.

Madam Ayinzoya gave the advice during the Speech and Prize Giving-Day of the Bernard Academy Nursery, Primary and Junior High School, at Akatsi-Abor, a suburb Adenta in the Greater-Accra-Region,

She reiterated that the government alone could not cater for the education of all, and therefore needed the support of private proprietors/proprietresses, to partner the government to enhance education.

She reminded parents to take good care of their children, by visiting them frequently, to know how they were faring at school.

She cautioned parents not to force their wards to take particular professions which were not in line with their talents.

Madam Ayinzoya reminded parents to fix their eyes on their daughters, to avoid their being impregnated while in school, disclosing that her Municipality recorded two pregnancies during the recent Basic Education Certificate Examinations.

Madam Susana Kennedy, a Co-ordinator of the Guidance and Counseling division at the LaNMMA branch of the Ghana Education Service, pleaded with the parents to always help their wards in selecting suitable subjects for their education.

Madam Judith Afedoh, the School's Administrator, said there had been a steady improvement in the performance of the pupils over the years.

She noted that Bernard Academy had over the years scored 100 per cent passes in the Basic School Certificate Examinations with good grades.

She advised parents to ensure the prompt payment of their wards’ school fees, to enable the school pay its staff.

Madam Afedoh said the infrastructure and facilities at the school had tremendously improved to enhance teaching and learnin, adding that the school intended to expand its library.

She reminded parents, that great leaders were not born or made, but were developed into leadership roles over a period of time, acquiring knowledge and learning the skills along the way.

Prizes were awarded to deserving students.

Mr Noah Ayisi, headmaster of Nima Two Basic School, chaired the function which was attended by past students, parents and well-wishers within the Akatsi-Abor Community.
