Be transparent in discharge of duties, says DCE

Atebubu (B/A), Nov 28, GNA- Mr Cassius Osei-Poku, the Atebubu District Chief Executive, has called on people in responsible positions to be transparent in the discharge of their duties to sustain the confidence reposed in them by the people.

He said anything shrouded in secrecy stifles imagination and casts doubt on the person's integrity.

Mr Osei-Poku was inaugurating the 27-member District Health Insurance Committee at a meeting of the district assembly.

The committee, which has the DCE as its chairman, included representatives from the Ministries of Health, Education, and religious bodies, TUC, transport unions and traditional authorities.

The committee will exercise oversight responsibilities for the smooth implementation of the Health Insurance Scheme in the district.

The DCE appealed to the committee to explain the issues relating to the scheme well to the people for them to understand the need for everybody to join it.

He urged them to lobby for resources to facilitate the assembly's efforts at upgrading facilities at the district hospital which he said were not good.

The assembly agreed to renovate the Atebubu office of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and provide it with a generator in readiness for the re-opening of the station early next year after the installation of a five-kilowatt transformer.

Mr Osei-Poku said the assembly had sponsored 66 teacher trainees and four nurses in its efforts to place education on a higher pedestal and raise the number of trained nurses in the district.
