Be serious with your studies- Asantehene counsels students

Kumasi, Dec. 19, GNA - The Ghana Baptist University College (GBUC) has held its first Presidential Ball at Amakom in Kumasi with a call on students to be serious with their studies to justify the investments being made on them. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, who made the call in a message delivered on his behalf, said the sustainable socio-economic development of the nation lied on the shoulders of the youth.

They should therefore eschew acts and practices as well as all forms of social vices that could be detrimental to their studies and subsequent career development.

The event was aimed at officially inaugurating the College, which among others, was to train Pastors and students to acquire knowledge in various courses for the accelerated development of the nation. Otumfuo Osei Tutu commended the Baptist Church for their immense contribution in improving the lives of Ghanaians through various development projects in the areas of education, health and provision of social amenities.

Reverend Dr. Kojo Osei Wusu, President of the College, said since private universities played important role in the human resource development of the nation, stakeholders should be supportive of their programmes to achieve their objectives.

He encouraged faculty members to do their best in imparting knowledge into the students and also maintain high moral standards to ensure discipline. 19 Dec.09
