B/A: Chief bemoans rampant hurling of curses among residents

The chief of Chiraa in the Sunyani West district of the Brong Ahafo region Barima Minta Afari II has condemned the frequent hurling of curses among his people.

He said the practice is putting the community in a bad light and causing misfortune for residents

Reports say raining curses on an offending individual is a common practice in the Chiraa community. Superstitious residents believe the practice has led to many strange deaths in the area over the years.

Speaking at the community’s annual thanksgiving service, Barima Afari II urged residents to learn to leave with each other in harmony.

“Now I urge all of you to stop these needless curses you rain on each other. It is destroying our community. I have noticed how people even heap generational curses on others. Such things do not help anyone and I think it is time we stopped those things as a people,” said.
