Ayensuano Constituency to form a football club

Coaltar (E/R), July 25, GNA – A soccer tournament has been organised at Coaltar in the Ayensuano Constituency of the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District of the Eastern Region to form a football club, to be known as Ayensuano Stars.

At the end of the tournament, 40 players were selected to form the core of the Club from among the 19 clubs that participated in the tournament.

The Clubs that participated in the tournament included Oko Nkwanta Venus F/C, Coaltar Chelsea, Coaltar Vision Stars, Marfukrom F/C, Otoase Eastern United, Ntowkrom F/C, Anfanso F/C, Bekoekrom F/C, Aworeso Mercury F/C, Krabokese F/C and Kraboa F/C.

The selected players have been camped at Kraboakese for a two months training and plans are afoot the team to under take friendly matches nationwide for the final selection of team “A” and “B” made up of 16 players each.

Nana Adu Kofi I, Twafohene of Coaltar, Patron of the Club in an interview with the GNA Sports said that he was motivated to form the Club because of the number of talented young footballers in the area.

He said that in his effort at assisting disadvantaged students who are interested in soccer, he has donated computers to some schools at Marfukrom and Krabokese to help the students in their studies and to be used to learn modern trends of football.

Nana Adu Kofi appealed to stakeholders in soccer to assist in unearthing gifted football players from the rural areas who for want of a meaningful thing to do often indulge in anti-social activities, thus denying them of achieving their future goals.

The Patron also called on Chiefs and other Traditional Rulers to provide lands for the development of sports facilities so that the youth can engage in meaningfully in sporting activities rather than idling about.
