Avoefe raise funds for project

Aflao, April 14, GNA-The Chiefs and people of Avoeme a suburb of Aflao have raised a total of 4000 Ghana cedis during the Easter to finance a vocational-technical school project. The project was initiated by the Aflao-Avoeme Development Association (AADA) to provide opportunities for youths in the area to acquire vocational and technical skills.

Ms Mawuena Dumor, Head Corporate Services Division of Scancom limited of the MTN network donated 1000 Ghana cedis towards the project and urged parents to educate their children.

"Every child should be made to have education", she emphasized. Ms Dumor who is also Executive Director of MTN Foundation observed that technical and vocational education was the securest means of making the youth employable and therefore commended AADA for its initiative. She pledged her personal support to the project and urged the youth of the area never to lose any opportunities to acquire education. Ms Dunyo who hails from the area urged the people to explore the economic benefits of their cultural drumming and dance forms. Togbui Anugbo II, Dufia of Avoeme urged citizens to keep up the self-help spirit and appealed to government to provide potable water and electricity to the community and its environs and good feeder roads to increase economic activities.

Mr Doe Kornyoh, Assemblyman for the area donated shovels, rakes and a wheelbarrow to youth groups in the area in appreciation of their enthusiasm towards sanitation activities. He urged the community to uphold cleanliness.
