Atwima Mponua DCE visits accident victims at Bibiani

Bibiani(W/R), Dec. 29, GNA 96 Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua, District Chief Executive has appealed to the people to register with the Atwima Mponua District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to provide them with affordable health care delivery. He expressed concern about the low registration of clients to the scheme when he realised that most of the victims in the Tanodumase-Gyereso road accident last Wednesday had not registered with the scheme.

Mr Owusu-Ansah made the appeal when he visited the accident victims on admission at the Bibiani Government Hospital.

He attributed road accidents to over-speeding, drunkenness, overloading and unnecessary overtaking and urged the police to check those traffic offences.

Five people died on the spot and two others later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi when a KIA tipper truck veered off the road and went into a ditch on the Tanodumase-Gyereso road near Bibiani.

The deceased mostly traders, were identified as Kofi Aboagye, the driver, Kwadwo Dagarti, Edward Teye, Kwaku Kusasi, Theophilus Mensah, an eight-year-old boy, Yaw Boateng and one Joe.

Twenty-seven others who received serious injuries are on admission at KATH and Bibiani Government Hospital.

Mr Owusu-Ansah was accompanied by Nyinahin District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Arlordey.
