Atwima-Mim builds 28 million-cedi latrine and urinals for school

Mim (Ash), Feb 4, GNA- Residents of Atwima-Mim near Nkawie have completed the construction of a place of convenience and urinal for the local basic school at a cost of 28 million cedis.

Nana Oheneyere Saapa, Quuen Mother of Mim, provided building materials worth over 12 million cedis while the community offered free labour.

Mr Charles Amoah, the School Management Committee (SMC) chairman, was speaking at a meeting held by the community with teachers in the area to discuss and plan the improvement and development of education at Mim in the Atwima District on Tuesday.

Nana Saapa has also extended pipe-borne water to the school at the cost of eight million cedis and provided the kindergarten department with sleeping mats, drinking cups, bowls and other pre-school teaching and learning materials to enhance quality education. The Queen Mother said her priority was the enhancement of effective teaching and learning in the basic school to provide quality education to the children.

Mr Amoah said the rehabilitation of the primary school is the concern of the community and appealed to the citizens to donate generously towards the project.

Mr Kwabena Nsiah, chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), said the Junior Secondary School (SSS) block has been painted by the association at a cost of five million cedis and has also provided the school with a set of jerseys, drinking cups and bowls to enhance recreational and sporting activities.
