Association embarks on de-worming exercise

Boadi (Ash), March 6, GNA - The Ashanti regional branch of the Lady Pharmacists Association of Ghana (LAPAG), has embarked on a worm de-infestation programme to enhance the well-being and health of under-privileged children in the Kumasi metropolitan area. Mrs Mercy Opare-Addo, Regional Co-ordinator of the LAPAG, said the programme formed part of the association's health care activities for this year targeted at some communities and three orphanages in the metropolis.

The orphanages are the Kumasi Children's Home, Boadi King Jesus Charity Home and the Kumasi Cheshire Home.

Mrs Opare-Addo was speaking at presentation ceremony at which the association donated assorted de-worming drugs to the King Jesus Charity Home at Boadi, near Kumasi on Thursday. It also donated a first aid box stocked with drugs to the Home.

Gokals Limited, Kama Health Services and Kinapharma Limited jointly provided the drugs valued at about 2.5 million cedis to the LAPAG. Mrs Opare-Addo said worm infestation was not limited to only children but also adults and therefore stressed the need for people to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Reverend Kofi Owusu Afriyie, director of the King Jesus Charity Home, commended the association for its "practical show of concern" for quality health of inmates of the Home.
