Assembly supports 67 physically challenged with working tools

Bibiani (W/R), Oct. 4, GNA - The Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly has presented equipment worth GH¢8,230.00 to 67 physically challenged persons in the area.

These included sewing machines, hairdressing equipment, bakery and barbering tools, deep freezers and rice cookers.

Mr Joe Adansi Bondah, District Chief Executive (DCE), said the items were meant to assist the beneficiaries to start their own businesses and improve on their living conditions.

He said the assembly would create opportunities for the physically challenged persons to become economically self-supporting to take them away from the roadside.

The assembly is supporting the education of 13 of them at the basic, second cycle and tertiary levels, he said.

Mr Bondah urged the physically challenged persons to have self-confidence and adopt the “can-do it attitude.”

The District Social Welfare Officer, Ms Mercy Quansah, advised the beneficiaries to put the tools to good use.
