Assembly member installed Krontihene of Kwanwoma

Kumasi, Feb. 11, GNA - A 43-year-old assembly member for Bomso, Kumasi, has been installed the Krontihene of Kwanwoma in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District=

under the stool name Nana Kwame Kyem. Known in private life as Mr William Kwame Fordjour, he succeeds his=

late uncle, Nana Kwame Asua.

He pledged to unite the people and provide right leadership to spee= d up the pace of development of the community at his swearing in. Education promotion and quality health care are areas he would focu= s much attention and energy.

Nana Kofi Agyei IV, Kwanwomahene and Adum Gyasehene advised the new=

chief to ensure a high sense of integrity and humility to sustain the confidence and trust of those he leads. Additionally, he said, the new chief should place the interest and common good of the people above personal comfort and individual ambition. Nana Agyei reminded him of the pivotal role chiefs play in governan= ce and development of their communities and asked him to help mobilize the people and financial resources to tackle the socio-economic challenges of=

Minister-designate pledges peaceful co-existence

Accra, Feb. 11, GNA - Mr. Bukari Moses Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister-designate on Thursday pledged peaceful co-existence of the peopl= e and non-interference in the operations of the security agencies in the Region. Mr. Mabengba was answering questions by Mr. Ambrose Dery, Deputy Minority Leader on the security breach in Tamale that had become a recipe=

for people to take the law into their hands during his vetting in Accra. He said ensuring peace in the Region would involve more money but th= e most important thing was for the people to agree that they needed peace. Mr. Mabengba said chieftaincy problems had been a challenge to socio-economic development in the Region and cited Buipe and Gushiegu Traditional Areas.

On the Dagbon crisis, he said the conflict had been managed awaiting= a decision by the three Eminent Chiefs led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. On roads, Mr Mabengba said efforts had been made with the Ministry o= f Roads and Highways to rehabilitate most of the roads especially Zabzugu roads. He said efforts would be made to solve the issue with Fulani herdsme= n after negotiations with the Northern Regional Security Council, Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA). Mr. John Gyetuah, Minister of State-designate for the Office of the President, in an answer to a question noted that the major challenges fac= ing the Ministry of Trade were the problem of financing small scale enterpris= es.
