Asogli announces embargo on funerals in September

Ho, Aug 8, GNA- The Asogli State Council has announced an embargo on all public burials and funerals in its area of authority from September 1 to 30, this year.

A statement signed by the Council's Secretary, John Kukah, said the ban is in accordance with custom to allow for rituals before the celebration of the Asogli State Yam Festival. The celebrations would commence on September 1 and would be climaxed with a grand durbar on September 29, followed by a thanksgiving service on September 30, this year.

The statement was circulated to all Churches, the security services and leaders of settler communities among others, enjoined all to fully comply "since the State Council will not tolerate any breach of this order".
