Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district honours teachers and non-teaching staff

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Oct. 6, GNA - Sixteen teachers and non-teaching staff in the Ghana Education Service in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district were honoured in this year's best teachers' award day celebration at Breman Asikuma for their hard work and dedication to duty.

They received items, including tabletop fridge, gas cookers, TV sets, Hi-fi system, gas cylinders and cookers. The theme for the occasion was: "Technical Education, the bedrock of National development". Some 80 school children were also presented with school bags at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, called on teachers in the district to continue to promote education because education is vital to development. He said efforts were being made by the assembly to provide the necessary infrastructure and materials that would enhance education in the areas.

The District Director of Education, Mrs Janet Ama Lassey, urged teachers to inculcate in their pupils a high sense of discipline and hard work that is required for nation-building.
