Ashanti Regional Minister inaugurates projects

Mankranso (Ash), Aug 4, GNA - Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, has inaugurated some development projects in the Ahafo-Ano South District as part of his two-day tour of the District.

The projects, which were undertaken and financed by the Assembly under its Projects Rehabilitation and Renovation Programme, included a 130-million-cedi Police station for Mankranso, a 600-million-cedi health centre for Sabronum and a 150- million-cedi classroom block for Adugyama.

The tour took him to Mpasaso, Domiabra, Wioso, Kunso, Abesewa, Pokukrom and Ahwerewa, where he addressed separate durbars. Inaugurating the health centre at Sabronum, the Regional Minister said it was the desire of the government to provide health services for all Ghanaians.

He said the Ahwerewa-Domiabra, Mantukwa-Sabronum and the Ahwerewa-Sabronum roads would be reshaped to facilitate easy transportation of people and foodstuffs to and from the area. Mr Boafo said the Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly has given scholarships to 32 brilliant but needy pupils in basic and senior secondary schools.

Mr Simpi Adjei, Assemblyman for Sabronum, appealed to the government to provide a borehole and a generator for the health centre. Cocoa farmers in the area expressed their appreciation to the government for the mass cocoa spraying exercise that, they noted, had increased their yields.
