Ashanti GNAT inaugurates new hostel

Kumasi, Oct.1, GNA - The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), on Thursday inaugurated a new hostel in Kumasi.

The GH¢ 20,000 two-storey building project was financed by members through financial contributions.

Past regional executive of the association who were also honoured at the function for their contributions towards the implementation of the project, received citations and an undisclosed sum of money. The new GNA regional officers, headed by Mr Anthony Willie Nantwi, Headmaster of Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School, were also sworn into office.

He pledged that the new executives would continue with the good work of their predecessors to uplift the image of the association and improve the wellbeing of members.

Mr V.V K Demanya, Deputy General Secretary of GNAT in-charge of Finance, said the provision of hostels for members across the country was to promote the economic welfare of members, especially those participating in sandwich and distance education programmes in the regional capitals.

He praised the old and new executives of the regional GNAT for their contributions to the building project, and urged them to re-dedicate themselves to the course of the association.

Mr A.K Bonsu, Ashanti Regional Secretary of GNAT, praised the past regional GNAT members, for supporting the project.
