Asamang-Nwabiagya (Ash), July 24, GNA - Residents of Asamang-Nwabiagya, near Asuofua in Atwima District are putting up a block of three classrooms as well as a staff common hall, an office and a store at a cost of 180 million cedis for the local junior secondary school.

Nana Wilberforce Ofori-Attah, Gyasehene and Mr William Oppong-Agyemang, the Assembly Member, said Nana Adjei Ofosu Duroh, Mawotirihene, has donated three packets roofing sheets towards the project.

Nana Ofori-Attah said 100 million cedis have so far been spent on the project, which is scheduled for completion by next academic year. The project forms the first phase of a two-year development programme initiated by Nana Agyim Ababio, Asamanghene, at the cost of more than 800 million cedis.

The projects including a four-unit teachers' accommodation and a KVIP are being financed through revenue from Asamang stool lands and a special monthly contribution of 2,000 cedis an adult resident while the unit committee members and other youth offer regular free labour. Mr Oppong-Agyemang said Nana Ofosu Duroh has spent over 70 million cedis to construct a bridge over River Abuasu to link Asamang and Dabaa. He also commended Mr Kofi Maama, a citizen of the town, for his initiative, selflessness and dedication, which has contributed to the development of the area.
