Apam SSS experiences water shortage

Apam (C/R) Dec. 21, GNA- The Headmaster of Apam Secondary school, Mr Archibald Fuah on Wednesday made a passionate appeal to the government and the Gomoa district assembly to provide the school with a water tanker to help solve the severe water shortage that has hit the school. He said the school's old tanker broke down two years ago and as a result it spends more than 10 million cedis a week on private water tankers to supply the school with water.

Mr. Fuah, who made the appeal through the GNA at Apam also appealed for the provision of about 12 polytanks and the sinking of boreholes to help address the water situation in the school. He described the current water shortage as the severest in recent memory and that it has greatly affected academic work since students have to walk long hours in search for water. Mr. Fuah expressed the fear that with the unset of the harmattan the situation would be more pronounced during the second term which begins in early January 2007 and urged stakeholders to urgently come to their aid. He said the school currently has a population of 1,600 including 900 girls.
