Amenowode shows gratitude to families who offer land

Sokode-Gborgame (V/R), Jan 11, GNA - Mr Joseph Amenowode, the Volta Regional Minister, has met representatives of two families at Ziavi-Gboxome and Sokode-Gbogame in the Ho Municipal Area and thanked them for giving lan= d for the citing of the Volta Region University of Health and Allied Sciences= .. The families are Nuene Family of Ziavi-Gboxome and Kokoroko Family of Sokode-Gbogame. Mr Amonowode presented a ram and drinks to the families to show appreciation. He explained that the relevant government agencies were mapping the land for documentation to determine quantum of compensation to be paid to the land owners.

Mr Amenowode said the offers were timely for the takeoff of the University, which was a political platform pledge by President John Atta Mills to the people of the Volta Region. Mr Andrews Agorda, Head of the Nuene Family, said he was pleased that his family was of help to the region and the nation and expressed the hope that some benefits would accrue to the people of the area. Mr Patrick Kokoroko, Head of the Kokoroko Family, said he wanted the transaction to be properly and transparently documented for the sake of posterity. Togbe Adintsri VI, Chief of Sokode-Gbogame, suggested a quota system t= o enable inhabitants of the area benefit from the jobs and academic opportunities to be created by the university.
