Amansie Central-embarks on Youth employment drive

Jacobu (Ash), Nov. 23, GNA 96 The newly-created Amansie-Central District has employed over 170 young persons in various sectors such as Health, Sanitation, Agriculture and Education under a special Youth employment drive being initiated by the District Assembly.

Mr Rashi Abdul-Hussein, District Co-ordinating Director, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Jacobu on Monday, said about 80 community Teaching Assistants were trained and posted to the needy areas.

He said the Assembly has also employed 10 young people to man sanitation tricycles for the collection of refuse in the District. Mr Abdul-Hussein said 40 people with basic knowledge in the sciences have been recruited and trained to serve as auxiliary nurses to administer first aid treatment in the remote communities.

He said the District has acquired a 20-hectare land at Nkoduase, near Jacobu for 49 youth who have formed co-operative groups and have been given one million cedis each by the Assembly to embark on a minor season vegetable cropping.
