Akwantufo Club supports Bawjiase Children's Home

The Awutu Bawjiase Countryside Children’s Welfare Home has appealed for support to help it complete a fence wall project to protect the children and properties of the Home.

Madam Boafor Yeboah, Founder of Home, made the appeal when a charity group called Akwantufo, based in Winneba, presented assorted items valued at 15,000.00 Ghana cedis to the Home.

The items included a bag of sugar, 10 boxes of Indomin, 16 cartons of soft drinks, two bags of rice, 10 packs of toilet rolls, six cartons of soap, a gallon of cooking oil and five creates of eggs.

Dr Godfred Ebo Dixon and Mr Moses A. Morgue, Patron and President of the club respectively, jointly presented the items to Madam Yeboah.

Mr Morgue said the donation formed part of the club’s humanitarian and charity works towards the upkeep of the needy and vulnerable in society.

He said the club had made similar donations to the Winneba Government Children’s Ward and the Gomoa Fetteh Orphanage and provided school uniforms and items to 53 physically challenged pupils at the Father John Memorial School at Winneba. It had also presented 90 tables and chairs to the Effutu Municipal Primary School.

The club promised to periodically support the Home to cater for the children and help them acquire the needed kills and knowledge to become useful citizens in future.

Madam Yeboah thanked the club for the gesture and said for the past four months there had been theft at the Home where 12 cows and 26 ducks were stolen.

She said the Home started with 12 children in 1980 and it now has 147 children from seven months to 23 years.
